Adorna uses Google Gemini artificial intelligence to process your photos. This may involve the collection of biometric data. Please read Sections 4 and 5 carefully for important information about how we handle your photos and biometric data.

Welcome to Adorna ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, mobile application, and browser extension (collectively, the "Services").

By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services.

2.1 Personal Information

We may collect the following types of personal information:

  • Profile information (measurements, size preferences, body type)
  • Photos you upload for virtual try-on features

Virtual Try-On and Photo Privacy

IMPORTANT: This section contains critical information about how we process your photos using AI services. Please read carefully before uploading photos.

4.1 Photo Processing

When you upload photos for our virtual try-on feature:

  • Photos are transmitted to third-party AI services for processing
  • Temporary processing data is not permanently stored unless you explicitly save the result
  • Saved try-on images are stored securely in your private account and are never shared publicly
  • Temporary try-on results are automatically deleted after 30 days
  • You can delete your saved try-on images at any time from your account

4.2 Third-Party AI Services

Your photos are processed by the following AI service provider:

Google Gemini (Google LLC): AI-powered image analysis and generation for clothing detection, categorization, and virtual try-on.

Data processed according to Google's Privacy Policy and Gemini API Terms of Service.

Note: When using the paid Gemini API tier, Google does not use your data to train its AI models.

4.3 Our Photo Usage Commitment

We make the following commitments regarding your photos:

  • We will NEVER use your photos for marketing without your explicit written consent
  • We will NEVER use your photos to train AI models
  • We will NEVER share your photos publicly or sell them to third parties
  • Your photos are processed solely to provide you with the virtual try-on service
  • Photos transmitted to AI services are processed ephemerally and not retained by providers except as necessary for caching

4.4 AI-Polished Wardrobe Items

When you upload clothing items to your wardrobe and use our AI polish feature, the resulting polished garment images (clothing items only, with backgrounds removed) may be used by Adorna for promotional purposes such as Pinterest boards and style collections.

This does NOT include:

  • Your personal photos, selfies, or body images
  • Virtual try-on results showing your likeness
  • Any images containing your face or body

Biometric Data Collection and Use

NOTICE: When you use our virtual try-on feature, we may collect biometric identifiers and biometric information from your photos. Please read this section carefully, especially if you are a resident of Illinois, Texas, or Washington.

5.1 What Biometric Data We Collect

When you upload photos for virtual try-on, our AI systems may extract:

  • Facial geometry and facial feature measurements
  • Body shape, proportions, and measurements
  • Pose estimation data
  • Other biometric identifiers necessary for accurate clothing overlay

5.2 Purpose of Collection

Biometric data is collected and used solely for the purpose of providing virtual try-on services—specifically, to accurately overlay clothing images onto your photo and generate realistic visualizations.

5.3 Retention and Deletion

Biometric data derived from your photos is NOT permanently stored. It is processed in real-time to generate your virtual try-on result and is discarded immediately after processing. We do not maintain a database of biometric information. Your original photos and generated try-on results may be stored according to our general data retention policy.

5.4 Disclosure to Third Parties

Biometric data may be disclosed to Google (via Google Gemini API) solely for the purpose of providing the virtual try-on service. Google processes data according to their Privacy Policy and Gemini API Terms of Service. We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric data.

5.5 Your Consent

BY UPLOADING A PHOTO FOR VIRTUAL TRY-ON, YOU PROVIDE YOUR EXPRESS, INFORMED, WRITTEN CONSENT TO THE COLLECTION, USE, AND DISCLOSURE OF YOUR BIOMETRIC DATA AS DESCRIBED IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY.

If you do not consent to the collection of biometric data, please do not upload photos to our virtual try-on feature.

5.6 State-Specific Notices

Illinois Residents (BIPA)

Pursuant to the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (740 ILCS 14/1, et seq.), we inform you that: (1) We collect biometric identifiers and biometric information from your uploaded photos; (2) The purpose is to provide virtual try-on services; (3) Biometric data is processed ephemerally and not permanently stored; (4) You may request deletion of your account data by contacting privacy@adorna.app. By using virtual try-on, you execute a written release authorizing this collection as required by BIPA.

Texas Residents (CUBI)

Pursuant to the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act (Tex. Bus. & Com. Code Ann. § 503.001), we inform you that we capture biometric identifiers for the commercial purpose of providing virtual try-on services. We do not sell, lease, or disclose biometric identifiers except as described in this policy.

Washington Residents

Under Washington law (RCW 19.375), we provide notice that we may collect biometric identifiers for security and identification purposes related to the virtual try-on feature.

Affiliate Marketing Disclosure

Adorna participates in affiliate marketing programs, including AWIN and other affiliate networks. This means we may earn commissions when you click on affiliate links and make purchases through our platform.

Our affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial content or product recommendations. We only recommend products and brands that we believe will provide value to our users.

7.2 Affiliate Networks

We share limited information with affiliate networks (AWIN, etc.) to track referrals and commissions. This typically includes anonymized click data and transaction IDs, but never your personal photos or measurements.

7.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests.

7.4 Business Transfers

If Adorna is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or prominent notice on our website.

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our Services and store certain information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our Services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

  • Account Data: Retained until you delete your account
  • Temporary Try-On Images: Deleted after 30 days unless saved
  • Saved Try-On Images: Retained until you delete them or your account
  • Transaction Data: Retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance
  • Analytics Data: Anonymized and retained for 26 months

Face Data Collection and Use

When you use our avatar generation or virtual try-on features, we collect face data from photographs you upload. This section explains specifically how we handle your face data.

12.1 What Face Data We Collect

We collect a single user-uploaded photograph containing your face and/or body. This photograph is used to generate a personalized digital avatar. We do not extract or store facial geometry, facial recognition templates, or biometric identifiers separately from your photograph.

12.2 How We Use Face Data

Your photograph containing face data is used exclusively to:

  • Generate a personalized digital avatar using Google Gemini AI
  • Enable virtual try-on of clothing items on your avatar
  • Display your avatar within the app for wardrobe and outfit features

Your face data is NOT used for:

  • Facial recognition or identification purposes
  • Biometric authentication
  • Advertising, profiling, or marketing
  • Training AI models

12.3 Third-Party Processing

Your photograph is transmitted to Google Gemini API for avatar generation. Google processes the image according to their Privacy Policy and Gemini API Terms. When using the paid API tier, Google does not use your data to train AI models.

12.4 Face Data Storage and Retention

  • Original photograph: Processed in memory during avatar generation, not permanently stored on our servers
  • Generated avatar: Stored securely on Cloudinary CDN until you delete your account
  • Account deletion: All face data including avatar images are permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion

12.5 Your Rights Regarding Face Data

You may delete your avatar and all associated face data at any time through Settings → Delete Account. To request deletion without deleting your account, contact privacy@adorna.app.

Sign in with Apple

When you use Sign in with Apple to create or access your account, Apple provides us with the following information:

  • Name: Your first name (used for personalization within the app)
  • Email: Your email address or Apple's private relay email (used for account identification and communication)
  • User Identifier: A unique, stable identifier for your Apple account (used to identify your account)

We use this information solely to create and manage your Adorna account. We do not share your Apple ID credentials with third parties. If you choose to hide your email using Apple's private relay, we will only see the relay email address.

Age Requirement and Children's Privacy

IMPORTANT: Adorna requires all users to be 18 years of age or older.

Our Services, including AI avatar generation and virtual try-on features, are intended only for users who are at least 18 years old. We require age confirmation during account registration.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@adorna.app. We will take steps to delete such information from our systems.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
